It’s a bit of a strange brew, but it’s amazing.

-1 1/2 oz. Shmidt Spirits Cobalt
-3/4 oz. Lemon Juice
-3/4 oz. Lillet Rouge
-3/4 oz. Creme de Cacao
-Lemon Twist (for garnish)

Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice.

Shake until chilled.

Strain into coupe glass.

Garnish with twist of lemon.

This update of the 20th Century (yes, it's an update, even though the name suggests it is 100 years earlier, just roll with it) is a darker spin on the classic. Obviously master distiller Brian Roan prefers this one, because it's got whiskey in it instead of gin, and it uses the red wine base of Lillet Rouge, instead of its white wine-based predecessor. Mix one up to warm you up!

Shake all ingredients with ice.

Strain into coupe glass.

There's something timeless about the look and taste of this gin cocktail. The Lillet Blanc gives it a dry white wine character, while the Creme de Cacao lends it a slightly bitter chocolate note. The lemon juice and gin, meanwhile, add in their distinctive citrus and floral notes, creating a drink that wouldn't be out of place at the Waldorf Astoria or in your own living room.

Now this cocktail was quite a surprise. Offered up to us by a fan of ours on Instagram, we decided to try it out on Instagram Live with each of our spirits to see which we liked best. The results are quite fun to watch, and while every spirit made a great cocktail, we decided that the Silver variant was the way to go.

The Manhattan is a great jumping-off point for making new cocktails because it is so simple and so classic. It's bred a lot of regional variants, and today we present you with Brooklyn's own Red Hook. This is a fairly new cocktail, invented in 2003 by Vincenzo Errico at the Milk & Honey bar. We made it with our own little twist, and the result is an approachable, delicious cherry-hinted cocktail.

-Mint garnish

Served in it's distinctive copper mug, the Moscow Mule is a classic cocktailwith style to burn. We at Shmidt Spirits had a feeling that we could improve upon the recipe with our own spirits, and boy were we right! In fact, though the Silver version has an added smooth sweetness, we reckon people will like this cocktail equally as much if its made with Cobalt, which had a bit more of a boozy whiskey punch.

-2 oz. Silver
-½ oz. syrup
-3 dashes orange bitters
-Seltzer
-Lemon twist garnish

In a high ball glass filled with ice, add Silver, simple syrup, and orange bitters.

Top with seltzer, and then gentle mix with cocktail spoon.

Garnish with twist of lemon.

We've loved out Viridian and Tonic since we came up with it. In looking for more recipes to help show off the distinct character of our Silver, we decided to see whether or not a simple swap would result in something equally as delicious. And it did! The versatility of Silver continues to astound us.

The most interesting thing about Silver is how much it adapts to each cocktail that you put it in to. It brings the character of a rye you might expect but in a way that isn’t burdensome or pushy. At the end of the day, it’s a harmonious accompaniment, not a brutish soloist.

The official drink of The Preakness, made with Shmidt Spirits liquor.

-1 oz. Shmidt Spirits Cobalt (instead of bourbon)
-1 oz. Shmidt Spirits Silver (instead of vodka)
-1 oz. Peach Schnapps
-2 oz. Orange Juice
-2 oz. Sour Mix
-Cherries for garnish

Add all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice.

Shake until chilled, then strain into a tall glass filled with ice.

Garnish with cherries (or orange wedge (or both!)).

The Preakness is this Saturday! If you're not from Maryland, you might not know how much of a big deal that is for us here at Shmidt Spirits. You also might not know that every jewel in the Triple Crown has a dedicated cocktail. We decided to see what we could do with the Black-eyed Susan, the signature cocktail of the Preakness, with some Shmidt Spirits liquor. Unsurprisingly, our spirits only make it more delicious!

With the subtly flavoring of our Cobalt and Silver, the ingredients in this drink meld together with sweet, harmonious perfection. The peach and orange are accented by the run sweetness and subtle vanilla of the Cobalt, with the buttery crisp silver underlying it all for an extra kick. Make one and raise a glass to your mount of choice today.
