Young Whiskey Finished in a Chardonnay Cask

It’s a whiskey spirit unlike any you’ve ever seen before.
Our two-thirds rye one-third wheat mash is aged four days in a charred oak barrel, mellowing the rye notes just a hint to allow for a smoother, easier drink. We then finish it in a chardonnay cask for three days, imparting a white whine patina that complements the subtle, distinctive flavor. A crisp chardonnay nose and buttery chardonnay finish bookend the gentle rye body of this spirit, making it a beguiling and gentle drink straight, on the rocks, or mixed.

Citrus and Lavender Gin Finished in a Whiskey Barrel

Infused with real orange and lavender, this gin is a delicately flavored curiosity that doesn’t overpower and doesn’t out-stay its welcome. Perfect to sip chilled on a summer day and light enough to mix into all your favorite gin drinks, this gin’s flavor is only outshone by its versatility. Finishing in a rye cask gives a final note of spicy sweetness that underlines the citrus and floral notes waiting to entice you.

RYE Whiskey finished in a Carribean Rum Cask

Two parts rye and one part wheat ensures that this spirit has the desired spice and bite of a rye with the mellowing sweetness of wheat to make sure the whole thing goes down smooth. Not only that, but finishing in a rum cask adds a layer of sugary deliciousness that means not only will it go down easy, but you’ll want to return to it again and again.

Agua Hibisco

A hibiscus flavored cordial, made with our viridian gin and sweetened with agave nectar

Based off the agua frescas that founder Arthur Shmidt used to drink as a boy in Jalisco, Mexico, this brilliantly sweet cordial uses our Viridian Gin as a base. We then steep hibiscus flowers in it and sweeten it with agave nectar. Drink it on its own, in your favorite cocktail, or drizzled over a decadent dessert.

Inkwell Wheated Red Corn Whiskey

The first addition to our new Inkwell line of craft spirits, this white whiskey is 84% bloody butcher red corn and 16% soft red winter wheat, all grown on small farms in Washington County, Maryland. This punchy near-moonshine is smooth, sweet, and warms you up on the way down in just the way you expect of an unaged corn whiskey.

The first-ever bourbon whiskey produced by Shmidt Spirits. This is an aged version of our Inkwell corn whiskey, with new notes of vanilla and sweet oak layered among the mellow sweetness of red corn and soft red winter wheat.
